This is upsetting
I heard about this through a myspace bulletin, and while those aren't always of the most value, this caught my attention, and I have been re-posting it where I can. It's sort of a small thing to get concerned about when there are much larger things to be much more concerned about, but I enjoy art and I like animals, so this has just gotten me really bothered.

In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo "Habacuc" Vargas, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death.
For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died.
The prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008.

If you have any doubts as to the whether this is a real thing or not (which I did), a youtube video is here:

And the petition can be signed here:

Spread this around if you feel so compelled.
Thanks.

another bear
This is a submission for a t-shirt design contest being put on by public radio show / podcast The Sound of Young America. The winner gets their shirt printed up and sold for a pledge drive, and a nice set of headphones.
If you care to, you can give me a vote here. To be honest, though, I'm not sure if it will make much of a difference because I guess they are going to have a panel of "celebrity judges" decide which shirt is best. Your support is always appreciated, though.
